Hi! My name’s Sara and I want to share with you my money story. It’s kind of the reverse of rags to riches. It’s more like going from Fear to Freedom.
About eleven years ago my husband lost his job. I went from feeling flush with money – we owned our own home, had a housekeeper and vacationed three times a year – to being plunged deep in credit card debt, living in a country where I didn’t speak the language and cleaning other people’s houses to feed my family.
It was an emotional experience for me. And it took eight years diligently applying the money principles I learned from a bunch of internet “money“ gurus along the way to pull ourselves out of debt and rebuild a life I love. Along the way I learned that a budget is not a one size fits all and maths isn’t always the answer! Although it’s simple to follow a plan it’s certainly not easy!
The biggest challenges I faced during this time were the feeling of being judged, lack of accountability and my own mindset. The last one being the most challenging to overcome. Let’s face it, when one can’t control their finances it seldom is about the money, but rather how they handle it and why they handle it that way!
So, whether you’re budgeting by yourself or with a partner, whether you’re deep in debt or saving for an outrageous dream, whether you’re brand new to managing your money or realising it’s time to go back to basics. Whatever your financial picture, if you are ready to take control of your life and your money, and get rid of the feeling that your money is controlling you, I want to be that someone who stands in the gap with you, believes in you and helps you hold the vision and stay the course.
Accountability is key when it comes to reaching your goals, be it life, health or financial goals. I’ve walked the path from Fear to Freedom. Let me hold you accountable and be your guide.
