It’s February everyone!
I know! Where did January go?! With goal setting, vision board creating and all the talk about inflation… here we are in February! And what a lovely month it is! Love is in the air and with that spending goes up a notch (several, actually!).
That’s where I come in! Your voice of reason, your conscience, your loving, nagging money person. I’m your positive thoughts Coach! Because I want you to win, I think it’s time to think outside the box this Valentine’s Day. You know me enough to know that I’m a spender and any excuse is a good one to go shopping! But the cost of living is through the roof and we don’t want to struggle, we want to live our best life and we are ok with being mindful with our spending so that we ride this inflation thing until things start to settle.
5 ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank
- Make a nice dinner at home, you don’t need to go out and buy expensive ingredients, use what you already have but be creative with your recipe! It’s time to up your game and make chili that much more special by adding cayenne pepper and ginger!
- Romantic movie night? Rent your favourite movie (or his) and snuggle on the couch with a hot chocolate (or tea) and some cookies.
- Enjoy the night, go for a stroll around the neighbourhood and talk about your dreams and goals for this year or make plans for a trip in the future
- Give each other massages, it’s so relaxing after a working day! And bonus, you get to use those creams and oils you bought and never seem to get a chance to use!
- Breakfast in bed is my favourite! I love waking up to the smell of coffee and toast (or pancakes!) and I love just as much when I wake up earlier and make my husband breakfast in bed! I am a lucky woman and I sometimes take my husband for granted, so it really is a privilege to spoil him every once in a while (believe me, it really is once in a long while…!).
As a side note…
As a wife, I have tried all of the above and I must say that it feels so intimate to share moments like this with the person that means the most to me in this world. It may not seem romantic for some and yes, I love an expensive piece of jewellery as much as the next woman, but at the end of the day, I long for these moments that I get to spend with my better half. And it has been a long road to get here and to appreciate them.
I hope you get some ideas as to how you can make Valentine’s Day special without breaking the bank or on your budget this year. Don’t forget to tell us all about it! We really want to know!
Happy Valentine’s Day Month!
