Do you ever feel like you are stuck in a season and you really can’t see the reason? Don’t despair my friend! We all go there one time or another. That’s really why I love Reset Time! Now, I know that every single day is a new beginning and we have the opportunity to reset whenever we want. But there’s something to be said about New Year’s resolutions, Mid-Year Reset. Whenever we change Seasons, especially Summer to Fall or Winter to Spring, that sends us the message that: a “New Era” is coming! Do you know what I mean!
A new era is coming!
For me, more so than New Year’s, it’s September. Since I became a mom with school aged kids, September was always my beginning of the year. Our schedules were adapted to the school calendar and it was just easier to do it that way! I recently learned about Matariki, which marks the new lunar year in the MĀORI culture. Yet another time to reset and start over! There’s just something about the weather cooling down that makes us want to change our schedule and even our home decor! That really sets the tone for me and gets me excited about starting afresh!
Matariki – marks the new lunar year in the MĀORI culture. It takes place in late June or early July, which is Winter, in the southern hemisphere.
So, even though it’s still August, I’m preparing for the month ahead! I’m getting a new planner (there’s no new beginning without a new planner! I use my own!) and notebooks and creating my routine so that I’m prepared.
You bet there’s a Quarterly Money Planner in this reset!
If you’ve been here long enough, you know that this year is the most wonderful and yet the most difficult I’ve had in a while. I’m living my dream life that I’ve manifested and yet, I had to remind myself time and again that I’m living the life I wanted to live! And, although I’m writing this for you, it’s also a reminder for me to not take my own life for granted!
Don’t wait until you have all your ducks in a row to start living the life you want to live!
I want to help you get excited about your life, right now! I want you to be grateful for what you have right now! BUT I mostly want to help you understand that, even though you are grateful for what you have, you are not stuck here! You can keep moving on to the next phase, you can keep chasing your dreams, pushing yourself, it’s all good!
Sometimes people tell me that I’m never happy with where I’m at. At first it stung! Then I realized that, that wasn’t actually true. I was grateful but that didn’t mean I had to stay there. It meant I could dream bigger and better things for me and my family.
Don’t settle just because others don’t understand you or the way you live your life!
We hear a lot about people who leave their corporate jobs and start new careers making less money or having more time for their family, which is awesome! But it’s also ok, to want to work in corporate and be driven and want to climb that leader! It’s awesome to want to make money and live a great financial life.
Now, I’m not saying you have to work in corporate to make a lot of money, or that you won’t make as much money if you leave a corporate career to pursue a dream! One does not invalidate the other! And that’s where your mindset comes in, your beliefs and everything you’ve been taught, or caught, growing up.
I don’t know about you but I was taught that we chose a career at 15 years old and worked towards it and on it for the rest of my life! Hell no! But that’s why people kept telling me I was never happy with where I was at! Because that’s normal in my family for people to live their lives doing exactly what was expected of them since leaving school until they retire! And because I refuse to do that, I’m “never happy”! Even though I don’t agree, I still thought about it and doubts crept into my mind. I had to work on them to keep on living my life on my terms.
It’s ok to live life on your own terms!
Living on your own terms can mean that your financial life looks completely different to what you think it should look like! And that’s perfectly fine! Remember, we are all trying to do our best in all areas of our life. I’m all in favour of creating a budget, a plan for your money and ultimately that’s where I want everyone to get to. But I also know that, unless we decide for ourselves that we need to make changes, those are not going to happen! I can talk about budgeting and personal financial plans until I’m blue in the face and it will make no difference to anyone.
That’s why I’m also a big advocate of helping people get to the solution rather than telling them what should be done! It might take longer to get there but it will be so worth it! And that’s what my Coaching Certifications and experience have taught me! No matter how important I (or anyone else for that matter) tell you that you need a plan for your money, you won’t take action because it has no value!
Take inspired action!
And this is really what I want you to understand: it’s ok to live life on your own terms! It’s like anything in life! I recently learned how to make couscous in a totally different. Way easier than I’ve been making them all my life! I’m a rule follower, it says on the box how to make them, so I made them that way. We went to visit some friends and I saw my friend make them in a totally different way! It had never occurred to me, that I could make them a different way than it said on the box!
Think outside the box!
So, let’s get out of the box and think outside of the box and live life on our terms! If you need some help “unpacking” that, you can just schedule a gifted coaching session with me. I’m offering a few gifted sessions this summer so that we can all start our reset in September with a clean slate!
Bye,
