And just like that… it’s September!
If you’ve been here long enough, you know I love beginnings! It’s always an “excuse” to start over, or simply start, that thing you have been avoiding… But this is me, always wanting to start over, re-do or begin again because I managed to go off the rails on whatever journey I was on…
I love September! The weather starts cooling down (at least where I live right now!), I get back to my routines (after the Summer break!) and the most wonderful time of the year is not too far (happy dance here!)!!!
As you probably know, this is my favourite time of the year to start thinking about putting some money aside for end of year festivities! (I managed to keep the words Christmas and Savings out of that phrase! Proud of myself!!!) I get that we are all responsible for our finances and you are the only one who knows if you should get into debt or not. (I’m hoping you go with not no matter what!) But I always feel a little bit more proud of myself if I manage to buy the things and still keep out of debt! Call me crazy!
That’s why, this year, again, I am reminding you to do some fun challenges and try to save some money so that you can pay for Christmas in cash. I know that gifts aren’t the most important thing at Christmas 🙄 , but never the less, people seem to get more and more into debt during the Holiday season… so think of this as my way of contributing to you getting less into debt this year by starting to think about it in September!
I’ve been doing these challenges for a while, well, except that year that I forgot Christmas was happening once again on the 25th of December and didn’t save for it!!! It happens people! These challenges have helped me navigate black Fridays and store sales that helped me save hundreds of dollars! I hope you decide to do some of these just for fun and to save money, of course!
Let me just say, I don’t have credit cards, we all know that by now!!! And I don’t really care if you do, what I really care about is that you pay them in full at the end of the month. That way Christmas doesn’t become way more expensive than it needs to be. I’m aware that we have more and more trouble keeping our expenses low so we can save a little more. I mean, my grocery bill went up 25% during the Summer. So, I get it! What I don’t get is that we keep spending as if nothing had happened.
So, please take a look at how much you earn and how much your expenses are and make a plan. The amounts you come up with will inform how much of Christmas you can afford! Because the title is a trick question, Christmas ALWAYS happens on the 25th of December!
I do hope that this reminder was helpful to you and I hope you decide to take up the challenge and see just what you are capable of!
