It’s the week of Thanksgiving.
Not all of us live in the United States of A so, not all of us celebrate the day in question. I do. Why? Because I take all opportunities I have to be grateful and to thank my God and/or the Universe for all I have. Now, it hasn’t always been like this! I was not very grateful a few years ago but… I liked celebrating the day! I liked cooking the turkey and have friends over for dinner and it would be a blast! (if I do say so myself!!) But it didn’t go deeper than that!
My kids say it’s age, I disagree. I think it’s experience! It’s the life I’ve lived and things I went through and people I met and people that were (very intentionally) left behind, that got me to this place! It was my all financial debacle and the hard decisions, that aren’t really decisions, they were more it’s either this or this, there are no other options!, kind of decisions!
The truth is, I still love celebrating the day but now, I’m very much grateful for everything in my life. The exception is that I’m grateful and give thanks, not once a year, like on the fourth Thursday of November but every single day! I take the time to appreciate the things around me, even if they are really small. I do this because I know what it’s like to not find anything in life to be grateful for, or at least feeling that there aren’t.
It’s very lonely and scary when we feel all alone and that we have nothing to look forward to in our days, weeks, months or even years. It’s also very easy to let that become our normal! I don’t care if coffee or tea are the highlight of my grateful list today! Tomorrow it might be that I earned a million dollars or that I’m leaving on vacation!
I just want to remind you that you have a lot of things to be grateful for. I want you to know that you got this! No matter where you find yourself at the moment, you have to believe that you were made for more! If you are here at this moment in time, you have a mission! Just be grateful and keep on moving in the direction you think you should. Don’t just stand there, you have to move so that God or the Universe, or whatever Higher Power you believe in can steer you in the right direction. And be grateful for that!
If you are celebrating with family or friends, be grateful for that. Even if they do drive you crazy, can you really imagine a world where they didn’t exist? Although this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have boundaries, it does however mean that you can be tolerant! You can let it go and just be grateful they are here!
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving feast, I mean Day!
I’m so very Grateful for you!
