Hello there! Thanks for being here today!
I bet you are here because you decided to write that list, you know the one… what you earn on one side and what you spend on the other side of the line…
When you think about money, you have to think about it like if you were on a diet! Imagine, it’s May 10th and you have just been invited to go on a vacation with your friends, to the beach, at the end of the month! Lucky B!
The first second thing you think is, I need a beach body! I’m not ready!!! So instantly you give up sugar, carbs and start walking to work each morning and back again at night! And guess what? You do it! You lose the weight and tone the muscles and you go on vacation feeling pretty awesome!!!!
Then you come back home, no way you keep up with that regime! You go back to your old habits and you put on the weight you lost and then some! (The story of my life!)
Well, creating a plan for your money with the objective of saving money or paying off debt is exactly the same! If you decide to do it, you will do it! You will cut all fun stuff from your life, you’ll eat beans or rice, no, can’t afford to have both in one meal! And you will do it!
By the third week I guarantee, you not only gave that up, but you are spending more than ever! Why is that, do you think? Why are we able to have these extreme behaviours and be successful for a short period of time until it all goes down the drain?
I’m going to give you the secret! Mindset! You did not take the time to understand why you behave the way you do (there are a few posts you can read about it!) and why you handle money the way you do. Just like when on a diet, you should understand what is a healthy diet and is it appropriate for you, just because it works for your friend doesn’t mean it will work for you!
That’s the reason I asked you to see where you are with your money without having an agenda! If you see where you are spending your money, it will tell you so much about yourself! And you need to be comfortable about where you are right now in your life, money situation and all! Because if you see where you are and if you don’t like it, you’ll start looking for ways to change it. To get to a better place.
No, I’m not saying you have to give up credit cards or change your life drastically! I’m saying you are going to want to be in a better place, whatever that looks like for you! And you know you can get help to do just that! Start creating that plan, budget or whatever you want to call it, but do it! Get a friend to do it at the same time so you can be accountable to each other. Get a personal coach. Commit to doing whatever it takes to get to where you want to go.
I want you to get to where you say:
“It’s my time and I’m ready for the next step!“
