In today’s digital age, the concept of a side hustle has evolved beyond traditional part-time jobs. Thanks to the internet, there are countless opportunities to generate extra income online, and two prominent avenues for doing so are Low-Content Publishing and Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Today I want to delve into the world of online side hustles, focusing on the first.
The internet has democratized the concept of making money on the side. Gone are the days when you needed substantial capital or specialized skills to launch a side business. Nowadays, all you need is an internet connection, a computer, and a dash of creativity. Online side hustles offer flexibility, enabling you to earn money from the comfort of your home or wherever you choose to work from.
So, what is Low-Content Publishing?
Low-Content Publishing is creating and selling various print-on-demand products such as journals, notebooks, and planners. Unlike traditional publishing, where you write full-fledged books, Low-Content Publishing focuses on producing simple, visually appealing designs with minimal text. It’s an excellent option for creative individuals who want to monetize their artistic talents.
As online money makers go, Low-Content Publishing is my favourite one. I first discovered Low-Content Publishing on YT while scrolling the channel mindlessly on a rainy Sunday afternoon (sounds like I’m making it up, but that’s exactly what happened!). I listened to this girl going on about Low-Content Publishing and how great it was (I was just skeptical!) but decided to dig deeper and see what it was all about and by Sunday evening I was hooked… Bought her Course and joined her Community, Low-Content Profits Academy and I never looked back. The main reason I never looked back is because it works and it definitely helped me pay off debt faster!
How can I get started with Low-Content Publishing?
- The first step is to select a niche. If you have been living under a rock or simply never had any interest in marketing, a niche is a specialized segment of the market for a particular product or service. The most common niches include health and wellness, productivity, wealth, hobbies, and personal development.
- The second step is to design your content. Create unique and visually appealing interior layouts for your journals or notebooks. You can use design software like Canva (the reason I love LCP!!!) or hire a designer for this step.
- The third step is publishing your creation. Platforms like Amazon’s KDP, Etsy, or Shopify allow you to list your products for sale. KDP is a popular choice for its wide reach and accessibility.
- The fourth step is to tell everyone, and their mother, about your amazing creation! Utilize social media, email marketing, and keyword optimization to attract potential customers to your products. Building an online presence and positive reviews can significantly boost your sales.
- The fifth, and last step, is to scale, scale, scale! Keep in mind that 80% of your earnings will come from about 20% of your published works! So the more you publish, the more chance you have to hit that sweet spot, that niche that was waiting for you! Also, as your side hustle grows, consider expanding your product range or exploring new niches to increase your income. The only thing I’d like to caution you about is, love the niche you are creating products for. Because if it’s tedious you’ll give up or not be as consistent at publishing as you could be and that could mean taking you longer to reach your income goals.
