Mindset: noun. A person’s way of thinking and their opinions.
Simple enough, right? If only!
We are permeable beings. As humans living in the world, in society, being raised by other humans, we absorb everything. From other people’s ideas to their actions, we take it all in. We are influenceable. To a point that it’s a challenge to have our own ideas. What am I saying, our ideas are born from other people’s ideas, most of the time! But, on the rare occasion we do have a different idea, we feel scared to share it because it might be controversial, not liked or people might make fun of us!
Can you relate? And what is up with our need of approval by every.single.person.we.meet?! Well, if you are anything like me, it has to do with self-confidence. Now, have you ever seen a baby with no self-confidence? Ever seen a baby scared to crawl because their crawling might look different from the other babies? No you haven’t! Yet, at the age of 7 we are full of self-doubt (most of us!), so, how did that happen?
Well, most probably the adults in your life started teaching us how to behave or making reflexions about our behaviour and it was all downhill from there! I am sure they did the best they could with what they knew at the time (I messed up my kids big time!) but the proof is, we constantly doubt ourselves and are afraid that people won’t like us!
You can see that “a person’s way of thinking and their opinions” is really a compilation of thoughts and opinions that we gather along our journey in this life of ours! So, before we go any further, let’s just pat ourselves in the back and be proud that we are where we are right now! Which gets us to the next thing we need to address… growth and fixed mindsets!
If you have been here for a while, you have heard of these before. Just so we can situate ourselves, a growth mindset person thinks “I only fail if I stop trying” while a fixed mindset person thinks ” If I don’t try, I don’t fail”. And by now you are wondering why the run around if we are going to talk about growth and fixed mindsets after all! Well, we are, but with a twist!
The good news is a growth mindset means you probably had people in your life during your formative years that taught you that you can do anything! Nothing is off limits! 5or you caught it by pure chance), either way keep going! For the fixed mindset, we were, probably, told things like “money doesn’t grow on trees!”, “better safe than sorry!” and other similar phrases that managed to stuck with us to this day! And our parents thought we didn’t listen to them!! Or you probably saw the fear in the adults around you growing up and decided it was actually better to stay safe than to be sorry!
We were just trying to stay safe. But now we want to create a different life for ourselves and that mentality isn’t working anymore! We want to lose weight but we keep hanging on to “I’m like this, there’s nothing I can do about it!”. We want to make a lot of money but we remember the “Filthy rich” people from when we were growing up”. You remember hearing how it’s very to make money. You have to do a job you hate and where you are miserable, to make “ends meet”! So we don’t even want to go there.
My favourite one is “I make good money but I haver have enough!” And you never will because, your mindset is off, not your money making skills or even the money you are making right now! Don’t believe me? I created a bootcamp thinking of you!
Everyday I am more convinced that my mission, my purpose is to empower women, yes, you, to get very clear about how you can claim your power when it comes to Money! You need to work on your mindset because you are amazing and you will do so much good around you when you believe you “can do anything!”.

- A Fixed Mindset is just thoughts, you can change it!
